|

I just bought the game and installed, but I have some graphics problem now.
I can't see the "new game" and alike menu options. And this is the same in the game too. I can't see the buttons.
I made a pict about the problem:
I tried to install the patches, but all says "unknown version". I don't think the CD has problem that is from the Target store I think. (I got for Christmas, so I'm not sure.)
Enybody can to help?
My computer configuration is
AMD 3000+
2 GB RAM
160 GB HDD
GeForce 6100
Windows XP
Directx 9.0c
so I think it can't be the problem... |

It seems like I had this problem when I first loaded this game. First try uninstall then re-install game. I also tried to use an older patch the first time, did you download the one called " Patch_JDAF " ? _________________ " Beat it to fit and paint it to match " |

I reinstalled but the problem stills. I downloaded the Patch_JDAF.exe and few other patches too, but all says cannot update, because the JohnDeere.exe: unknown version.
Is the reinstall "repaired" the game for you? Or the patch helped?
I have no idea why the game says "unknown version"... The exe is 1.01 version, I didn't change anything, just installed from the original CD.
So, you say that is possible to solve the problem?

Hm... now I got some info, the graphic (6100) has some problem. Not the card, but the game with this card.
There was a fixing patch, I installed it (it said that solve the "unknown version" problem. That didn't, but well, looks I must to get a new video card to play with the game. Hopefully it works then.
(This integrated old video-chip is not too good...)
But I know what is the problem, so, useful news. |

Just a thought -- you may want to check our support page at http://www.boldgames.com/support/jdaf/jdaf_support.html for help with getting this to work. There is a fix for the "unknown version" issue, but it can be confusing at times. If you have any questions about this, let me know. _________________ Jason Clark

I tried the fixed .exe, deleted the old exe, unzipped the new to the JDAF folder, but nothing changed, the game still has the "unknown version" problem.
I just hope if I get a new videocard, there is no more problem and everything works fine. |

Anything other than an NVIDIA card should work. This patch does work if it's correctly installed. Follow the directions on our website and you shouldn't have any problems. _________________ Jason Clark

I also have had issues with this game and patches. I've downloaded several diff. patches to try and resolve the graphics issues. I also tried to download the "fix" just to have it stop downloading mid-way several times, so I cannot even try to see if that works or not. I get the "unknown version" error.
I just wish this site would make it clear if the "johndeerefix" works for v1.0 ... it only lists "if you are having problems with v1.2. And fix the download link so that people could actually download it.
With all this Major hassle and frustration trying to fix a game in which we purchased, I'm not sure that I would ever buy another game from any of these makers. Our family is a HUGE gaming family.. purchasing many adventure and simulation games per year, and these problems are giving me a bad impression of the makers of these games.
Solve these fix problems before you start to lose money. And if you solve them for me, I just might buy another game from you. Until then, I will avoid purchasing anymore from Bold, Gabriel Entertainment, etc.

Having gone back, unistall, reinstall, then trying the patch.. it still shows unknown version.
As I was looking thru the files, I noticed that my CD version .. the exe file is named JohnDeer.exe
Well the Patch is named JohnDeere.exe ...... with and E on the end. Is this the reason I get unknown version error?
Can't someone fix the patch and make it right? How frustrating it is!!
Need to fix the download problem on the Bold site too.. the johndeerefix will not completely download ... Is this download file timed because I am on dial-up? It gets to about 30% downloaded then stops.
Please fix your patches or something. It is SO VERY FRUSTRATING!

The patch does work when properly run. The reason you're only getting 30% of the file is because you're on dial-up and the connection is getting dropped by your ISP. _________________ Jason Clark

Also, the correct file name is JohnDeere.exe -- try changing the file name to match this. _________________ Jason Clark

Thanks for the reply, however Andrew from MacSoft/Bold Games replied to my email and got me all set up and fixed correctly. Yep, Dial up is a pain.. better than nothing at the moment.. waiting on my cable guys to fix the lines that were ruined (due to snow I am assuming). Thanks again for the reply.
